Coming up with a new domain for your blog could be a bit of a challenge. Most of the times, the first few ideas you come up with will have been taken by someone else.
Some registrars and some “domain search” tools can be unscrupulous and steal the domain from you as you search, so I recommend you don’t use them to test if your domain is available.
The safest way to test if your domain is available is simply by typing it into the address bar in your browser. If you get no results, or a message that says website not found, then chances are that the domain name is available.
If you get any other result, it could be that the domain name is already taken. Try a different one, or a slight variation of the one you really want. You may need to get creative.
Before you go out and buy your first domain, remember that if you follow this guide on how to start a blog, you can get a domain for free.
