This is a theme specifically geared towards artists. For our first Themetastic Thursday we’ll be taking a look at Photocrati. Hope you enjoy this, feedback is welcome in the comments!
Historically Photocrati is made for photography but it can easily be used for other types of art. Feature rich and with tech support behind it, it is the preferred theme for thousands of photographers.
The theme is called Photocrati and it’s really cool. Photocrati ($59 on sale), provides tons of built-in functionality for photographers and artist types.
Some of the cool stuff that’s included with the theme is listed here:
- Built in Starting Designs (over 60 available)
- Fully Responsive (mobile friendly)
- Built-In Gallery Management
- Built-In Ecommerce
- Thumbnail Galleries
- Built-In Lightboxes
- Slideshow Galleries
- Filmstrip Galleries
- Blogstyle Galleries
- Multiple Blog Templates
- Featured Posts Widget
- Many Widget Areas
- Right Click Protection (optional)
Here are some screenshots from various configurations using Photocrati:
The best way to show you what all those features mean is to send you to the Photocrati demo website. At the time of this writing, they had put their theme on sale down to $59 from $89 which is normal price.
I have used it in a couple of projects. It’s neat and it’s all inclusive. It really has everything a photographer would need to showcase their work. But again, any kind of artist would be able to take advantage of it.
One of the things I really like about this theme is all the different kind of galleries available for it. You can use almost any kind of layout that works for photographs and artwork.
The theme is responsive which is always a plus.
The price is totally perfect on sale right now, so if you want a photographer’s theme then I don’t see why Photocrati shouldn’t be amongst your top choices.
One of the things I look at when I consider a new product, or in this case a new theme is that I look at the testimonials –if any.
I’m impressed by the number of positive comments that I found, read some of these:
I have been using Photocrati for over a year, and have been extremely impressed with the level of customization and individual customer service offered by Photocrati…I feel that the themes are among the most sophisticated available, and consider Photocrati to be the best investment I have made in my business.”
— Tyler Siems
Or this one:
The Photocrati theme solved my selection problems. The design flexibility was built in and easy to use, which was great for someone who had little experience with WordPress. With the theme so easy to customize, the main framework of the site was quickly in place and allowed me to focus on content more than design. Being that the Photocrati Theme was designed for photography, it was also perfectly suited to deliver the look and feel I wanted…

Oh but there’s more and just one more.
Given that I had no experience building websites whatsoever, I was looking for an easy-to-use theme for my company’s website. Though I’m a carpenter, not a photographer, I needed a theme in which I could prominently display examples of my work. The endless number of customization options, styles and support have allowed me to create what many have told me is a very professional looking website

Everyone I know that has used the Photocrati theme (including me), loves the theme so I recommend you get it if you are a photographer or an artist.
